W.J. Boone · Missoula, Montana
Glacier. Yellowstone. The Bitterroot at dusk. Original paintings born from a photographer's eye and a practice of art as therapy.

For years I photographed Montana's wild places, often hanging from a helicopter with the door off, my brother Danny at the controls. Painting came later, and it became the truest form of therapy I have known. Each canvas re-imagines a real place — not as a map remembers it, but as it felt to stand there. These works are part of my own search for meaning inside the paradox we all live in.

Commissions
The ranch your family has worked for three generations. The lake where you were married. Your view of the Missions. I take a small number of commissions each year, painting the places that hold your story.
Commissioned originals begin around $2,500 depending on scale. And for the place that can only be understood from above, there is the signature commission: a helicopter flight over your land, and a painting of what we find.
